Head of Optical Coatings Laboratory of ORPE Technologiya Oleg Prosovsky presented the results of the progress made in the development of a multifunctional thin-film coating for the polycarbonate cockpit canopy of Su-57 aircraft. The nano-sized composition developed by Obninsk scientists offers high adhesion, and with its application onto the transparency external surface it is possible to provide a considerable improvement in the stealth capability of the fighter aircraft. Continuous development efforts to improve the performance of multifunctional coatings resulted in the fact that ORPE Technologiya came to grips with a problem of producing the new-generation multifunctional thin-film coating.
“At present, we are deeply involved in the research and adoption of optical metamaterials, as well as application of the plasma assisted reactive magnetron sputtering technology (PARMS). The research will make it possible to improve functional and optical properties of multifunctional thin-film coatings, to develop the technology of producing super-complex optical interference light filters for instrumentation optical systems (with a number of optical structure layers of more than 200) and finally to make products having superior optical performance”, pointed out Oleg Prosovsky in his presentation.
According to the speaker, currently there are no equivalent optical coatings produced in the Russian Federation. Thus, many developments of Obninsk scientists make it possible not only to promote import substitution but also to bring the Russian centers of competence to leading positions in the international market.
