The new machining center with the unique equipment located in a new spacious shop has been put into service within the framework of the Federal Target Program «Development of Civil Aviation Equipment in Russia». The production site with the state-of-the-art equipment will solve the problem of batch production of large-sized components from polymer composite materials for the advanced Russian airliner MC-21 and other modern airplanes. The unique high-performance five-axis plant will make possible the high-precision machining of the components up to 20 m in length and 3 m in width.
«Nobody in our country has such equipment. Our machining center is capable of machining 20meters long products. Suffice it to say that the length of the advanced Russian airliner MC-21wing is 19 m. Our competencies and production facilities provide a wide field for the manufacture of unique products,» — said A. Silkin, Director General of ORPE Technologiya.
ORPE Technologiya is a recognized Center of Competencies in the field of development and manufacture of large-sized assemblies and components from polymer composite materials. At the end of 2017 the Enterprise started the batch production of CFRP fin and tailplane torsion boxes for the MC-21 airliner within the contract with the IRKUT Corporation for the delivery of five sets of tail unit primary elements.
