Contribution of ORPE Technologiya to the record of Russian cosmonautics

17 July 2017
The launcher SOYUZ-2.1a with the upper stage FREGAT has placed into orbit 73 satellites simultaneously which is a record for the Russian cosmonautics. One of the space vehicles is the KANOPUS-V-IK remote sensing satellite the thermal honeycomb panels of which were made by ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin. These panels unique in structure and characteristics not only maintain the temperature conditions but also serve as a platform for the location of instruments.

“The panels are strongly sought-for products. In the last three years we have supplied over 400 temperature control panels and solar cell carriers. We are constantly working on the development of design-engineering solutions found. Currently the Enterprise has enough bookings with confirmed financial backing for completing advanced space vehicles up to 2020,” said A. Silkin, Director General of ORPE Technologiya.

The KANOPUS-V-IK satellite is used for the monitoring of technogenic and natural emergency situations, including forest fires and major releases of contaminants. The devices of new generation will make it possible to obtain the breakthrough information owing to the higher spatial resolution and a wide hold-in range (2000 km). But the key advantage of the satellite is the ability of detection of small fire seats (just 25 m2 in area). Besides, ORPE Technologiya takes part in the development of four more space vehicles of this type.
