The State Research Center of the Russian Federation ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin has developed and certified the high-strength electrically heated operator’s cabin windows for the electric locomotives of new generation KZ8A/KZ4AT. A new type of transparency provides maximum safety for the operator and can be used in different kinds of main-line locomotives including those working in adverse climatic conditions.

“We have developed similar transparencies for the main-line dual-motive electric passenger locomotive of the 5th generation EP20 with the speed capability of up to 200 km/h working within the temperature range from -50 to +40. At present our specialists work at the development of polycarbonate-based structural optics products with the unique strength characteristics for high-speed locomotives,” said K. Shubsky, Director General of RT-Chemcomposite.

The expert’s report of the Federal Budgetary Organization “Register of Certification on the Federal Railway Transport” proves the compliance of the production process and the quality of the structural optics products for KZ8A/KZ4AT with the requirements of the Russian and international standards. The Certificate obtained gives evidence of ORPE Technologiya readiness for the batch production of this kind of products which conform to the requirements of design engineers and Technical Regulations of the Customs Union.

“The development of competitive products for the railway transport is one of the key areas of ORPE Technologiya activities. Nowadays the Enterprise manufactures over 250 kinds of products for the railway industry. The planned retooling of the production process and continuous scientific work on the development of new technologies allow us to expand the assortment,” said A. Silkin, Director General of ORPE Technologiya.
