State Research Center of the Russian Federation ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin has developed and implemented the technology for production of components for the equipment working with molten metals. The products are made from advanced heat- and chemically resistant composite material developed by the enterprise’s researchers.

The first component prototypes have been produced for application as consumable parts in metal melts gas atomization facilities where metal powders for additive equipment are produced. As a result of trial run, injectors and bushings made from the innovative material ensured non-stop operation of the equipment throughout the manufacturing cycle at 1650 °С.

“Production of components from domestic material will enable iron and steel enterprises to ensure fail-safe operation of the equipment under sanctions. We are able to produce wide range of components from heat- and chemically resistant ceramic composite material,” said Andrei Silkin, Director General of ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin.

The ceramic composite material based on zirconium dioxide has been developed by ORPE Technologiya researchers fully from domestic raw materials for import substitution purposes. It is intended for production of components subjected to thermal shock at operating temperatures up to 2000 °С. The material can be used for the production of refractory injectors, nozzles for spraying metal melts, batchers for continuous casting of steels, crucibles for induction melting of metals and alloys.
