Andrei Silkin: The Key Tasks of Import Substitution of Materials for Composite Production in Russia Have Been Solved

9 December 2021
Andrei Silkin, Director General of ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin took part in New Materials and Substances Technologies Discussion of Nobel Vision. Open Innovations 2.0 Forum, a new stage of the International Open Innovations Forum.

Andrei Silkin told about the tasks of materials import substitution and the ways of their solving in the manufacture of aerospace products at ORPE Technologiya, as well as about the prospects for the development of this area.

“We have already solved the problems of materials import substitution in the times of the work on the Buran spacecraft nonmetallic section. That is why such challenges are not novel to us. And at present, all issues regarding import substitution of materials for aerospace composite production at our enterprise have been resolved. The stage of optimization is in process, and we have some tasks to improve, but the state of uneasiness is over. The conversion to domestic raw materials in composite production has become an important step towards consolidation of the country’s positions regarding materials import substitution. This is a very significant event for the industry. And I believe that from this time on nothing is impossible for us in manufacture of both batch and advanced technology products,” said Director General of ORPE Technology.

Nobel Vision. Open Innovations 2.0 is an evolutionary stage in the development of the International Open Innovations Forum, which of the past nine years has become one of the most famous and significant discussion platforms dedicated to innovations. The world-famous scientists including Nobel Prize, Fields Medal, Wolf Prize laureates, the leaders of key knowledge-intensive industries corporations took part in Nobel Vision. The Forum is among the official events of the Year of Science and Technology in Russia.
