The new frigate Admiral Kasatonov was commissioned as the part of the Northern Fleet on July 21st 2020 on the eve of the Russian Navy Day. The vessel is designed for off-shore maritime zone and open-ocean use. Tropical region and Arctic Basin seas operations require the ship to sustain high wind loads, humidity and temperature gradient.
The radome enables to maintain the reliable signal reception and transmission for target detection and recognition including the small targets in a radius up to 300 km. The protective structure made of polymer composite materials has the working capability during more than 15 years.
JSC ORPE Technologiya also produced other composite parts for Admiral Kasatonov frigate: air pipes, girders, antenna unit structures. On July, 26th 2020 the ship took part into the Main Naval parade in St. Petersburg in tandem with the single lead frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the corvettes of Steregushchiy class. The radar stations of these battle ships are also protected by the composite radomes produced by JSC ORPE Technologiya.
“Our enterprise has been fitting the battle ships since 2003. During this time period the JSC ORPE Technologiya specialists have developed more than 1000 parts intended for naval radar stations including 13 corvettes within 20380 Steregushchiy and 22350 Admiral Gorshkov projects. As part of the current project the multilayer polymer composite structure of 4 meters long was developed in order to ensure the radar equipment protection which is located in the top part of the frigate. Herewith the main goal was to achieve the necessary radio transparency requirements”, - the Director General of JSC ORPE Technologiya Andrey Silkin claimed.
