JSC ORPE Technologiya launched the production of PD-14 aircraft engine parts made from domestic composite materials

28 July 2020
JSC ORPE Technologiya named after A.G.Romashin manufactured and supplied the components for testing to the United Engine Corporation (UEC NPO Saturn). Those are the resonant sound absorbing structures and abradable panels which are intended for the Russian perspective civil aircraft engine PD-14 and made from domestic composite materials.

In terms of the Import Substitution Program the new materials intended for PD-14 structural parts were developed and produced by JSC ORPE Technologiya, namely: aluminum and polymer honeycomb cores and adhesive films ensuring the required characteristics. The parts will go through tests as the components of PD-14 testing sample.

The multilayer honeycomb sound absorbing structures are intended for the aircraft engines noise reduction and the abradable panels provide the safe performance of the fan rotary blades. Composite materials application not only increased the components reliability but also the engine weight efficiency. Since the beginning of participation in the PD-14 program in 2011 JSC ORPE Technologiya has produced 25 sets of sound absorbing structures for the new domestic aircraft engine.

“Dealing with such challenges our enterprise helps the domestic aircraft engines industry to obtain import independency. Currently JSC ORPE Technologiya is the only Russian enterprise that implements the batch manufacturing of these parts. This year we have already produced 72 sets for SaM 146 engine”, -   the Director General of ORPE Technologiya Andrey Silkin claimed.
