ORPE Technologiya: non-stop production for the space industry

10 April 2020
The State Research Center of the Russian Federation ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin is one of the regular participants of domestic space programs. The Enterprise provides the space industry with high-technology products from composite materials by developing and producing articles and structures for launchers and spacecraft. Therefore, even during the preventive measures against the spread of coronavirus taken in the country, Technologiya doesn’t stop producing articles for the space industry.

“Our Enterprise entered the list of systemic institutions of Kaluga Region, therefore strategically valuable production is performed non-stop. One of the most important areas is production for the space industry. We have great plans for 2020. We are to provide our customers with high-technology products on seven space programs including Luna-Glob, Elektro and Orel. To complete space equipment in 2020 we plan to produce 30 solar cell carriers and 90 thermal control panels. Within the terms established it is required to produce six sets of shells from composite materials for the Proton-M and Angara family launchers. On the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Victory residents of this country will be able to see the unique photos of the Cities of Military Glory taken from space by one of the satellites of the Kanopus-V complex. Thermal control panels for spacecraft, which at the same time constitute its body, are manufactured at our Enterprise, and we are proud of being involved in such projects”, said Director General of ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin Andrei Silkin.

ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin has been providing the space industry with high-technology products from composite materials for more than 40 years. 59 spacecraft with component parts produced at the Enterprise have been placed into orbit. The unique products of Technologiya provide smooth operation of high-precision equipment under extreme space conditions, which increases the service life and reliability of spacecraft. The use of new technologies and materials makes it possible to reduce the weight of space equipment. Technologiya takes one third of the Russian market of composites being one of the five leaders in the industry worldwide. It is the aerospace industry for which the largest volume of composite products is manufactured.
