ORPE Technologiya named after A.G. Romashin (a member of the Rostec State Corporation) supplied high-technology transparencies for two more sea hydrofoil passenger motor vessels Kometa 120M which are to go on their routes in 2020. The Enterprise is to equip passenger compartments and pilot houses of the ships with its articles.

The specialists of the Enterprise were successful in solving the challenge of re-equipment of sea vessel houses. Installation of large-size panoramic electrically heated silicate triplexes improved visibility and ship handling in any weather conditions. Furthermore, the house was provided with two-section polycarbonate panoramic side transparencies instead of three-section ones implemented on the first Kometa 120M, which also increased the passenger vessel operating safety.

In order to glaze the passenger compartments of two new Kometas 120M, ORPE Technologiya will supply the customer with more than 100 transparencies from monolithic optical polycarbonate which proved itself to be good during the trial operation of the first hydrofoil motor vessel. It started cruising between Sevastopol and Yalta on 30 July 2018 and transported 39,000 passengers per season.

“The capabilities of our Enterprise provide the solution of such challenges in the shortest possible time. In this case the problem of developing the two-section panoramic transparencies was solved within several months. This year our products have been approved by the Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping.  Thus, our silicate and polycarbonate glass articles as well as multilayer electrically heated optical structures intended to be mounted into illuminators and house windows of ships are awarded the shipbuilders’ quality mark”, noted Andrei Silkin, Director General of ORPE Technologiya.
