“Technologiya”: 25 years in the status of the State Research Center of the Russian Federation

On June 5, 1994 ORPE Technologiya named after A.G.Romashin was assigned a status of a state research center of the Russian Federation. Over a period of 25 years the national government has confirmed this status ten times, thereby recognizing the company’s contribution to innovative development of the native industry.

ORPE Technologiya is a recognized center of competence in the development and manufacture of high-tech products from polymer composite materials, glass and ceramics. This prominence stems from a strong scientific component enabling creation of materials and articles with advanced properties. The company has exclusive rights to more than 340 intellectual property items, one third of the staff members - over 700 people are engaged in R&D sector.

“Three inherent scientific schools, an established and supported system of generations continuity – all these and many other factors allow Technologiya to be considered as a unique world-class research center. It is of particular value that our developments are not the baggage of the past. They keep up with the time and even get ahead, while a good many young scientists being involved in the research sector: more than half of the staff members are under the age of 40. Thus, Technologiya has good prospects for being a research center”, noted Andrei Silkin, Director General of ORPE Technologiya.

In accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, the status of a state research center can be assigned to scientific organizations that have unique facilities, pilot and experimental equipment, high-skilled professionals and scientists whose scientific and engineering efforts have gained worldwide recognition. Such scientific organizations are an essential part of the national innovation system.
