The participants discussed the general state and the development trends of the composites industry in Russia. In the course of the discussion it was noted that the science-intensive production advanced growth as well as the products competitiveness in the international market are not possible without extension of composite materials scope of application. According to experts, the main obstacle to large-scale introduction of carbon-fabric materials is high dependence on foreign suppliers. And what is more, the problem concerns not only raw materials but machinery and software as well.
“Sanctions policy is a challenge we cannot eliminate. These conditions are to mobilize us. Especially as we have already got an experience from the spaceship Buran project successful implementation under sanctions pressure. For the time being, the MC-21 airliner is to become the project like this, capable of taking the domestic aircraft engineering as well as the whole aircraft industry to a higher new level,” remarked Andrei Silkin, Director General of ORPE Technologiya.
ORPE Technologiya is one of the advanced innovative enterprises of Russia in the area of composite materials development and production, and a leader in the manufacturing volume of products made from them. Technologiya gets a third of the Russian composites market making the top five enterprises of the industry in the world. The volume of research and development as well as polymer composite materials serial products supply increases year on year by at least 20 percent and is about 20 tons of carbon fiber composite structures per year. Polymer composite materials products for the aerospace industry make up the largest share in the output.
