ORPE "Technologiya"is one of the Russian Federation enterprises defining scientific and technological policy in the field of nonmetallic materials for aerospace industry. It has its own development program for a period of up to 2010. The program involves the pursuance of R&D work aimed to the development of advanced science-intensive materials, technologies and structures based on glass, ceramic and polymeric composite materials oriented to the commercialization, import substitution and application in various branches of industry:
the Enterprise is developing a theoretical background for the synthesis of new structural heat-resistant ceramic and glass materials the basis for which is the controlled chemical interaction of the components and the controlled formation of materials phase composition and microstructure with the aim to provide an entirely-new level of materials properties,
work is underway towards the development of structural heat-resistant colored and colorless glass with controlled spectral characteristics,
the investigations and experiments on the development of ceramic heat-stressed components for engines are being carried out,
ORPE "Technologiya" is working on the synthesis of submicron high-purity BN powder with turbostratic structure and on the development of BN-based composite materials for use in the air at the temperatures of up to1500°C,
efforts are underway to expand the use of BN suspension in ceramic articles, specifically to improve the characteristics of quartz ceramics used in metallurgy,
the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with radioparent materials is being studied with the aim of developing the theoretical and experimental principles of the aerial fairing production,
work is in progress on the development of metallooptical and organosilicon coatings for silicate and organic glass which protect glass from electromagnetic and heat radiation and from the environmental effects,
the Enterprise is formulating a concept of a wide use of the components from high-modulus polymeric composite materials with low density, high specific stiffness and controlled coefficient of thermal expansion (traditional materials do not possess these properties) for aerospace and ground applications with due regard for the dimensional stability under operating conditions,
a scientific basis for the development of large multilayer intricately reinforced components from polymeric composite materials using methods of mathematical modeling is being worked out,
ORPE "Technologiya" is developing energy saving technologies for the production of polymeric composite materials the main lines of which are:
method of one-shot molding of the article,
autoclave-thermocompression method of molding which implies the building up of additional pressure at the expense of thermal expansion of elastic molding elements,
optimization of autoclave molding conditions through the mathematical modeling of thermal processes in the products during the polymerization using remote control,
use of ultrasonic method of structure machining which improves machining quality and rate,
a scientific basis and design and process solutions for the manufacture of nonmetallic tooling used in the production of large-sized composite components and units for aerospace equipment are being developed,
the investigations and developments are in process on:
honeycomb core materials based on polymeric paper and glass fabrics,
binders, sealants, compounds and other polymeric materials.
